If your NAS performance is powerful enough, installing a virtual Windows is a fun thing to do. Then you can easily operate the virtual Windows through the remote desktop connection function of Windows. This article takes the QNAP TVS-h874 virtual Win11 as an example to record the installation process.
- First, go to the QNAP APP Center and find Virtualization Station to install it.
- Launch the Virtualization Station virtualization tool and click "Create VM" in the upper right corner.
- CPU and memory settings, set the CPU model according to the image, and the rest can be set according to your configuration.
- Startup options settings.
- Hard disk 2 can be set later when the space is not enough (similar to the D drive).
- Network card settings, set according to the image.
- For the optical drive, be sure to add two: one mounts the Windows Guest Tools and the other mounts the Win11 CD image file (remember to download it in advance and upload it to the shared Public folder or any other place you can find on the NAS).
- Graphics card and other settings, set according to the image.
- Then start the installation. After starting, press the keyboard quickly. Wait patiently when this interface appears, it will start installing automatically.
- Click "Load Driver" button.
- Be careful not to select the wrong CD drive.
- Select win10 amd64.
- Select the third driver.
- Start the installation and enter the familiar interface.
- After the installation is complete, go to "My Computer", open the CD drive CDROM, and click on "qnap-guest-tools-0.102.1" to install the driver (important).
- Remote connection. Search for "Remote" in the lower left corner of the computer, click on "Remote Desktop Connection", enter the IP address, and follow the prompts to enter the NAS username and password to log in and connect.
